The weather was perfect this weekend (for spectators 😉) at Oulton park and the crowds "poured" in for practice and qualifying Saturday at Chesires famous race circuit.
Tom Ingram obliterated the Oulton Park qualifying lap record with a 1:24.194 !!!! That’s a whole 0.638 seconds quicker than last years record
"It felt pretty special if I’m honest" - Tom Ingram confessed.
Race 1, Sunday morning, the BRISTOL STREET MOTORS Team driver, take the 1st WIN of the day, after a strong start after the lights went out.
TIngram took the lead from reigning champion Ash Sutton, as the field streamed through Old Hall and down towards Cascades for the first time.
Whilst the leaders charged through the first corner, drama unfolded down the grid, as four-time champion Colin Turkington failed to get off the line –causing havoc for those behind him. Everyone successfully managed to avoid the stricken BMW.
Turkington was classified following his failure to get off the line, albeit in 20th, and a lap down after joining the race from the pit lane.
Race 2 …. and Josh Cook #66 in the LKQ EURO CAR PARTS TOYOTA produced one of the finest opening laps in recent memory as, the SYNETIQ driver blitzed from eighth on the grid to lead Round 14.
Cook gradually edged clear of the pack to take his first win in Toyota Racing machinery, ahead of the 'BRISTOL STREET MOTORS' Tom Ingram, whilst the scrap for the final place on the podium turned one way and then the other.
The triumph for Cook also represented his first win since Thruxton in 2022 and the 19th victory of his BTCC career so far.
Race 3...... and Laser Tools Racing & MB Motorsport's, Jake Hill #24 ended a quite sensational day of British Touring Car Championship racing at Oulton Park by making a last lap move for victory in the reverse grid race.
Long-time leader Mikey Doble and team-mate Árón Taylor-Smith in the PMR Evan’s Halshaw Astra’s had to settle for a still impressive two-three finish for the Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing team.
The Kent based driver, Jake Hill is in the form of his life, having taken a double-double at Snetterton and Thruxton respectively during the previous two race weekends, but he has had to remain patient at Oulton Park this weekend
An exhausting but exhilarating weekend of touring car action, sees Jake Hill to the top of the championship standings by just 4 points ahead of INGRAM. 2023s Champion, Ashley SUTTON, sits in 3rd place, just 20 points behind Ingram.
Summer break for the BTCC now, and the next rounds are at Croft on 27th & 28th July... We cannot wait !!!! 🏆
