GAMBLE Shines at 1st Donington GT session of the season...!!
Tom Gamble proved to be the star of the show during the first session at Donington Park, showcasing his skills under the sunshine and blue skies. The Barwell Motorsport team initially, Martin & Mitchell, set the pace with their Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2 but it was Mercedes that ultimately dominated the field. Maxi Götz and Kevin Tse secured a strong fourth place for 2 Seas Motorsports, while Callum Macleod and Mike Price took fifth in the Greystone GT car.
In the GT4 category, Century Motorsport's Charlie Robertson shone in the BMW M4 GT4, claiming the top spot in a highly competitive field.
Race day brought unexpected challenges as heavy rain forced the start to be delayed. After switching to wet tires, the race officially began behind the Safety Car. Despite the tricky conditions, Barwell's Lamborghini emerged victorious, closely followed by the Optimum McLaren driven by Mark Radcliffe and Tom Gamble. Optimum also secured a dominant win in the GT4 class, with Brown and Meakin overcoming their Compensation Time penalty to claim their second victory.
The race was not without its dramatic moments, as a sudden downpour caused chaos on the track. Several cars ended up in the gravel trap at Redgate, highlighting the unpredictable nature of motorsport and the importance of skill and strategy in adverse conditions.
Overall, Donington Park provided a thrilling weekend of racing, showcasing the talent and resilience of the drivers and teams. The unpredictable weather and intense competition made for a memorable event that will be talked about for years to come.
