The 2024 GB4 Championship kicked off in style at Donington Park on March 5th, setting the tone for what’s already shaping up to be a fiercely competitive season. With a mix of bold overtakes, team domination, and dramatic collisions, Round 1 had it all—and then some.

Race 1: Phelps Pushes Ahead
Isaac Phelps wasted no time proving his pace, converting pole into a commanding lights-to-flag victory in Race 1. The young driver left the pack trailing as he surged ahead from the front row, leaving Jack Taylor and Ary Bansal to battle behind. But it was Daniel Guinchard who really impressed, climbing into P2 and showing clear intent for the championship. Meanwhile, Alexandro Kattoulas earned driver-of-the-day whispers with a stunning charge from P7 to claim third.

Race 2: Elite Clean Sweep
Elite Motorsport flexed their muscles in Race 2 with a dominant 1-2-3 finish. Ary Bansal stole the show early with a gutsy move on lap one to take the lead—a move that stuck. Phelps followed up with P2, adding more solid points to his weekend tally, while Kattoulas continued his fine form by securing another podium. Neirin Evans and Lily-May Watkins came to blows mid-race, resulting in a 15-second penalty for Evans and an unfortunate end to what had looked like a promising scrap.

Race 3: Carnage, Comebacks & Championship Statements
The final race of the weekend turned chaotic in the closing moments. A massive pile-up on the last corner between Luca Magnussen and Jason Pribyl saw cars scattering and marshals racing to the scene. Amidst the madness, it was Berg who kept his cool, holding off a hard-charging Enzo Hallman to take the win. Junos and Wilson’s clash at the Melbourne Hairpin cleared the way for Hallman, who snatched P2. Stefan Bostandjiev capitalised on the chaos and carved his way from seventh to claim third.

Championship Watch:
Isaac Phelps’ consistency and double pole positions gave him 64 points, but it’s Daniel Guinchard who leaves Donington in the lead with 66—thanks to his smart racecraft and podiums. In the Constructors’ battle, Elite Motorsport is already looking like the team to beat, taking 149 points from Round 1 and opening a gap over Hillspeed’s 110.
