Motorsports events often evoke a range of emotions, particularly when contrasting different editions of the same competition. The Revival this year, starkly contrasted with our 1st visit, last year, which was notably characterized by "excessive" sunshine. While the 2023 event experienced challenges with heat, including a need for frequent warnings and cautions, this years Revival was marked by markedly different weather conditions. The dress code was notably relaxed last year, allowing attendees to don cooler attire; however, this did not diminish the fervor of die-hard fans, who remained committed to the authentic spirit of the Revival.

This year’s event, however faced a weather spectrum that could only be described as challenging, with some rain conditions approaching, what many attendees suggested , as "biblical" proportions. As a result, many competitors struggled with the treacherous track conditions. encapsulated the dichotomy of the situation by acknowledging the difficulties drivers encountered while simultaneously affirming the enjoyment of the experience despite the adverse conditions.

We asked 3rd Time BTCC legend, Matt Neal, in Parc Ferme after his 1st drive in the St. Mary’s Trophy, how the drivers were handling the conditions? "It's pretty horrible out there to be honest and many of these classic Racers struggle. But it's still lots of fun" Matt added.

The St. Mary’s Trophy race, for those that haven't yet attended, is a Revival highlight event, and featured an impressive array of classic automobiles, including the agile Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA, the robust Ford Galaxie 500, the sophisticated twin-cam Lotus Cortina, and some powerful Mini Coopers. Each vehicle showcased a distinctive blend of engineering prowess and motorsport heritage, thereby enhancing the rich narrative of racing history. The nimble handling of the Alfa Romeo contrasted sharply with the imposing stature of the Ford Galaxie, exemplifying the evolution of performance and design within the automotive sector. This event serves not only to celebrate these iconic models but also to honour the competitive spirit that is intrinsic to motorsport culture

Interestingly, while the challenging track conditions posed difficulties for drivers, they also provided a captivating spectacle for dedicated motorsport enthusiasts. The sight of racing machines navigating the curves of Goodwood’s racetrack, with their tail ends gracefully swinging from side to side, proved to be a thrilling experience for spectators. Despite the inclement weather, evidenced by the sea of umbrellas in the crowd, the enthusiasm demonstrated by the fans remained unwavering, further underscoring the passion and commitment inherent within the motorsport community.

Hospitality of an Era...

The Revival this year, provided a unique blend of nostalgia and top-tier hospitality that captivated attendees from all walks of life. Held in the picturesque setting of West Sussex, the Revival celebrates the golden age of motorsport, bringing together vintage car enthusiasts and admirers of classic culture. Visitors were treated to a remarkable array of hospitality options that enhanced their overall experience and complemented the event’s vintage charm.

Upon arrival, guests were greeted with a warm atmosphere that set the tone for the entire weekend. The venue was elegantly designed to reflect the 1940s and 1950s, with decor that transported visitors back in time. The various hospitality suites offered an idyllic setting for enjoyment and relaxation. Each suite, exquisitely themed, combined period style with modern comforts, accommodating both small groups and larger parties aiming for a more lavish experience.

One of the standout features of the Goodwood Revival was the gourmet dining options available throughout the venue. Attendees savored culinary delights prepared by renowned chefs who showcased British cuisine with a modern twist. From classic fish and chips to exquisite afternoon teas, the menus catered to a diverse range of palates. Guests relished dining in the exquisite restaurants, where attentive staff ensured each visitor’s needs were met with impeccable service.

In addition to fine dining, the event also offered a variety of casual and themed eateries. A bustling market atmosphere allowed visitors to sample an array of delicious street food, including artisanal burgers and locally sourced delicacies. The vibrant environment encouraged social interaction, making it an excellent opportunity for bonding over shared passions for everything the Revival has to offer.

Entertainment options were plentiful, further enhancing the hospitality experience at the Goodwood Revival. Vintage-style bars served a range of craft cocktails and fine wines, allowing guests to unwind after a day filled with thrilling races and nostalgic displays. Live music performances, echoing the sounds of yesteryear, set a delightful mood as attendees mingled and reminisced about the golden age of motorsport.

A Greener Future for Goodwood...

This year's Revival showcased a remarkable shift towards sustainability in motorsports, highlighting the use of innovative clean fuels for classic car racing. Enthusiasts marveled as vintage vehicles, traditionally reliant on fossil fuels, now roared to life on renewable alternatives. The Duke of Richmond, founder of the Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival. “I am proud that we are the first to be mandating the use of sustainable fuels at the event. Goodwood will continue to champion and advocate for the use of alternative energy sources and we can’t wait to see an even bigger presence of them at our events next year and beyond.”

Every single Classic Racing machine ran on special sustainable bio fuel and we caught up with a few of the BTCC Athletes, including Matt Neal, Tom Ingram and Jake Hill.... Matt quoted, "Performance was great, considering the confirmations and this fuel will keep these incredible engines running for many years to come"....

These eco-friendly fuels, derived from sustainable sources, not only reduce carbon emissions but also enhance engine performance, bridging the gap between nostalgia and environmental responsibility.
