We ran a great Junior Squad when Pitlane News started back in 2020 and we've brought it back in 2025, to highlight and showcase some talented teenagers in the Industry.
Amber Reid-Writer
is a 16-year-old junior journalist for Pitlane News, based in Surrey. Passionate about motorsport from an early age, she brings a fresh, authentic voice to the junior paddock. A proud McLaren supporter with a soft spot for Lando Norris and F2s Luke Browning. Amber writes with heart, insight, and an eye for talent. While not an expert photographer herself, she collaborates closely with the squad’s young photo team to spotlight up-and-coming drivers in GB3, GB4, F4, and Ginetta Juniors. Amber’s work focuses on youth development, motorsport careers, and the business behind the racing — always with her signature blend of curiosity and energy.
Kian Baines - Photographer
has been taking pictures since 2017, when he was just 10 years old. His dad’s been doing it since the mid-80s, and caught the bug after his first trip to Donington Park with dad, Phil Baines . He was using a Panasonic FZ300 camera back then, and found it a bit tricky at first. Kian wasn’t used to setting up the camera, so mostly shot in auto mode. But with his dad’s help and the guidance of others, Kian started to feel more comfortable taking control of the camera. He attended lot of events and kept practicing, got better and better each shoot. The Panasonic got sold and replaced with an Olympus that had interchangeable lenses. That was a great experience, and it really helped him build confidence in handling different cameras. In 2023, Kian finally got his own DSLR camera, a Canon 7D with a couple of lenses. A dream come true. Kian has attended numerous different events, including the British GT, BTCC, BSB, TCR, RALLY, CLASSICS, NLR and more. His biggest so far has to be the MOTOGP at Silverstone. He's attended six times now, and it’s always an amazing experience. When he's not taking pictures, he likes to play football, listen to heavy rock music, and play on his PS5 with friends.
Olly Goodall - Photographer
Oliver is a 15-year-old motorsport photographer with a sharp eye and a deep-rooted passion for racing. His journey began after watching Top Gear as a kid, sparking a love for speed, machines, and the stories behind them. In just three years, Oli has already made his mark — being featured in the 2024 Autophoto Awards Top 100. Whether it's superbikes, rally stages, or GT grids, he focuses on capturing the raw emotion and atmosphere of motorsport. Now part of the PLN Junior Squad, Oli brings his creative vision to Pitlane News — one shot at a time.
