"Racing Rivals: Stapleford and Mossey Shine at the BSB Support Series"
PIRELLI National Superstocks & Quattro Group British Supersport / GP2
The British Superbike Championship (BSB) attracts intense competition not only in its main events but also in the support series, which includes the revered Quattro Group British Supersport and the gripping Pirelli National Superstock. These thrilling races provide a platform for emerging talent and seasoned racers alike, enriching the motorsport experience for fans and participants.
In the Quattro Group British Supersport, Luke Stapleford showcased remarkable skill as he fended off Jack Kennedy to clinch the Supersport Feature race victory. Kennedy, however, managed to widen his points lead despite the defeat. The race began dramatically, with Ben Currie seizing the initiative off the line, leading into the challenging Redgate corner and dominating the early laps.
As the competition intensified, Kennedy took the lead on Lap Seven, but Stapleford, starting from the third row, mounteda formidable charge. Quickly reclaiming the front, the Macadam Triumph Racing rider displayed exceptional pace and composure, ultimately crossing the finish line just 0.271 seconds ahead of Kennedy, who secured second place. Currie finished closely behind in third, just 0.169 seconds off Kennedy’s pace, showcasing the razor-thin margins that define motorsport.
The GP2 class concurrently illustrated Owen Jenner's dominance as he consistently outperformed his competitors, ultimately finishing ninth overall. His Kramer Racing teammate Jack Nixon claimed second place, with Keo Walker completing the podium on a Triumph GP2 bike.
In the Pirelli National Superstock series, the excitement continued with Luke Mossey emerging as a standout competitor, winning both races on the weekend. In the first race, he bested rival Davey Todd by a margin of 2.827 seconds. Todd initially took the lead, but Mossey reclaimed control after just two laps, maintaining his advantage to the checkered flag. Todd’s title contender, Joe Talbot, finished in third, while David Allingham and Scott Swann rounded out the top five, with Todd holding a narrow seven-point lead in the championship standings.
Mossey’s prowess was further demonstrated in Race 2, where he once again finished ahead of Todd, this time by a mere 0.315 seconds. Following a swift start, Mossey established dominance early, and despite Todd’s efforts to regain the top spot, the Milenco by Padgetts Motorcycles rider proved impenetrable.
The thrilling races featured in the BSB support series not only highlight the skill and determination of the riders but also create a vibrant and competitive atmosphere that engages racing enthusiasts. As these talented athletes continue to push boundaries, the series promises more exhilarating moments in the upcoming events.
In a fiercely competitive race, Todd maintained a strong presence throughout, consistently keeping close to the front runners. Ultimately, he secured a commendable second place, finishing just behind the victor. Scott Swann followed closely in third, while Joe Talbot and Josh Owens rounded out the top five in fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
As anticipation builds, the motorsports community eagerly awaits the final rounds at Brands Hatch, scheduled for October 11th to 13th. This event promises to be a thrilling conclusion to the season, as competitors vie for the prestigious title of champion for the 2024 season.
