The 2024 British Touring Car Championship season got off to a thrilling start this past weekend at Donington Park, with Tom Ingram proving himself as the driver to beat. Despite the mixed weather conditions, Ingram showed his class as he secured pole position for race 1 on Sunday after an impressive display in the qualifying sessions.
Ingram continued his dominance on race day, taking a lights-to-flag victory in race 1, with Ash Sutton and Jake Hill rounding out the podium. He followed it up with another commanding performance in race 2, securing his second win of the weekend and solidifying his position at the top of the standings.
Speaking after his back-to-back wins, Ingram was understandably delighted with his performances, describing it as a "pointsy weekend" where everything seemed to fall into place. With a nine-point lead over Sutton heading into the next round at Brands Hatch, the pressure will be on for his rivals to catch up.
The action-packed weekend also saw newcomer Aiden Moffat claim victory in race 3, holding off the likes of Colin Turkington and Sutton to take the top spot. Moffat's debut win for Speedworks Motorsport was a standout moment, showing that the competition in the BTCC this season is fierce and unpredictable.
Phil Baines also introduced his son, Kian (17y.o.a,) to the world of Motorsports Photography and the PLN editor, Matthew Jordan asked him this... " So Kian, how did you find the BTCC 1st race of the season, and how come your images are so impressive" ?
Kians response was "I REALLY loved shooting the BTCC with my dad β¦.. And I canβt wait for the next shoot which will be the BSB this weekend" "He taught me quite a few tricks of the trade, and I've got Dads old Nikon D7200 with a 7-300 lens, which is great to use"
With the next round at Brands Hatch just around the corner, fans can expect more exciting battles and unexpected twists as the championship unfolds. Don't miss out on the action as the BTCC continues to deliver high-octane racing at every turn.
